Matheson is delighted to have advised Pen Underwriting – the specialist underwriting subsidiary of global insurance brokerage, risk management and consulting services firm Gallagher – on its acquisition of Republic of Ireland-based Wrightway Underwriting Limited.
Wrightway is a managing general agent providing motor and liability coverages for the haulage and fleet sector across Ireland through its independent broker clients, as well as other commercial and personal insurance products. This strategically important transaction, which completed on 4 June 2024, enhances the specialist capabilities and product range of Pen Underwriting, creating further growth opportunities, and establishes its first on-the-ground presence in Ireland. It is the Gallagher group’s sixth acquisition in the Irish market in the last two years.
