Matheson is advising Macquarie Asset Management (via Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 7), alongside Jones Day, in relation to its agreement to acquire the Beacon Hospital Group, one of Ireland's most technologically advanced private hospitals, serving more than 200,000 patients each year.
A cross-departmental Matheson team was led by Corporate M&A partner Robert Maloney Derham, associates Dan McAleese and Aisling Smith, solicitor Teresa Carty and trainees John Tye Sillem and Saskia Kirrane.
This milestone transaction represents the continuation of Macquarie Asset Management's investment in leading Irish infrastructure assets following the success of its 2021 purchase of Beauparc Utilities, a transaction Matheson also advised on as lead Irish counsel. Macquarie Group has played a key role in the development of Irish infrastructure, having invested or committed more than €2 billion across the education, social housing, waste management, renewable energy, and healthcare sectors since 2009.
