Matheson retains Top Tier IFLR1000 Rankings

The IFLR1000 Legal Guide has recently published its 33rd edition, covering the research period 2022-2023.  The annual Guide to the world's leading financial and corporate law firms and lawyers, which includes feedback from clients, said that Matheson "is strong across all areas of financial and corporate work, and with an experienced projects team. Structured finance and securitisation, financial services regulatory, and restructuring and insolvency are areas where the firm is especially noted for its expertise."

Feedback from clients in the Guide said that the firm was "very professional, knowledgeable and responsive," and that "Matheson is a highly specialised law firm" which "provided in-depth knowledge and on-the-spot assistance".

Other comments said that the firm was “Practical and commercial, no long-winded legal waffle. Experienced personable lawyers who work well together and collaborate well with other law firms on multi-jurisdictional transactions,“ and that "Matheson always provide (sic) extremely well thought out, commercial advice.  They are responsive and will assist in meeting tight deadlines."

Our rankings across Asset Finance; Banking; Capital Markets Debt; Capital Markets Equity; Financial Services Regulatory; Investment Funds; M&A; Project development; Project Finance; Restructuring and Insolvency and Structured Finance and Securitisations are available here.

A total of 42 Matheson lawyers are ranked in this year's Guide for their expertise.  Notably, three partners have also been ranked as Rising Stars.  They are Sean Scally, Stephen Gardiner and David O'Mahony.  In addition, two Matheson partners - Stuart Kennedy and Rory McPhillips – who were previously ranked as Highly Regarded, have been upgraded to Market Leaders.

Matheson Chairperson, Paddy Spicer said; "The annual IFLR1000 rankings are a milestone for our lawyers and an important endorsement of the work that they undertake.  The anonymous feedback which is received from clients is an important reflection of the quality of our people and of the outstanding services that we provide to our clients.  I am delighted to see the extraordinary work which our colleagues do being recognised in this way."

"As a full-service internationally-focussed law firm, it is especially gratifying to see such a significant number of our practice areas being highlighted in this year's guide, as it underlines the breadth of skills we offer to, and the range of matters that we work on with, our Irish and international clients.  Finally, I would like to thank our clients for taking the time to give their feedback and most importantly, for allowing us the opportunity to work with them on some of the most complex and high-profile transactions in the market."
